Abstract: The Art of Design

In the documentary Abstract: The Art of Design, this image of Adele’s face and eyes brought me close to my emotions. The way the image is split, with one side showing her full face and the other focusing only on her eyes, makes it feel intense and personal. Her expression looks almost frozen in a moment of realization, like she’s seeing or feeling something deep and strong.

What stood out to me most is how her eyes reflect both confusion and amazement at once. It’s not a simple emotion. It feels like she’s processing something overwhelming but also beautiful. The black-and-white style makes it even stronger by removing distractions and forcing you to focus only on her expression and the feeling behind it.

I connect to this image because sometimes that’s how I feel. There are moments where I can’t fully explain what’s going on in my head, but I feel everything at once, confused, emotional, and still somehow full of grace. This image reminds me that not every emotion needs a clear explanation to be real, and feeling deeply reminds me I'm alive.

One image I have that visually expresses my connection to the world around me is this one a friend took of me when we were in Greece a few years ago. I’m in Mykonos, standing barefoot on a rocky beach, with the ocean stretching out in front of me and the mountains in the distance.

What makes this image special is the way the sunlight hits my face. I’m looking up, eyes closed, like I’m taking in the warmth and the moment. It captures a sense of peace and freedom that is hard to explain but easy to feel.

I connect to this image because it represents a moment where I felt completely alive and grounded at the same time. I was the happiest I've ever been during that trip, which makes this a core memory and a special picture.
